Jesus is the Way

Hello to all of our friends and partners,

I always believed that there was a God and I knew that one day, I would have to get my life right with Him. As a teenager I didn’t want miss any of the good things that life had to offer so I had planned to give my life to God at the last possible minute. I thought of becoming a Christian was like buying fire insurance. How good would it be to buy fire insurance the night before a fire? Then I met young Christians working out at a gym that I was working out in and the thing that shocked me about these people was that they were a Christian and….. wait for it……happy! I genuinely thought that no such unicorn existed. To me the term, “Happy Christian”, was an oxymoron, like the term, “fun run”. It surely didn’t exist? I was eventually tricked by these unicorns to go to a church service where I heard the Gospel and gave my life to the Lord and accepted Him as my Saviour.

As wonderful as this new life with God was, to be totally honest that I still thought that there were things that God asked of us that might have been for our benefit, but in my opinion, were definitely not enjoyable. As I teenage boy, with enough raging hormones to kick start a dead buffalo, I wished that there were only nine commandments instead of ten, and you wouldn’t have to be a genius to guess which commandment I wished didn’t exist.

John 14:6
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

As I have grown older and have got to know the Father heart of God more, I can see that His way is not only for our benefit but it is the way that brings us the most joy in life. I began to see that Jesus is the way, and that way, is truth that brings us life. Sometimes we judge people for the wild ways that they live but I believe that they are just searching for the incredible life that God designed us to have but they can never find it because they are not living the way Jesus showed us.

God does not just give a list of do’s and don’ts because certain things annoy Him, but He lovingly shows us a way that is full of truth that brings us life. So many addictions are fed by people trying to get joy out of a way of life that is full of lies that produces nothing but death in their life. Let us learn to trust the goodness of God and follow His ways that bring us to fullness of life that every human longs for. This is what true repentance is. It is not crying and feeling bad about yourself but recognizing that the way that you have been going is not God’s way, it is a lie and that the truth that brings life is found in Jesus. The early believers were called, “The Way”. May our lives for Jesus testify to the world of God’s goodness and the abundance of life found in Him.
